Jirga settles tribal dispute

SHIKARPUR, Dec 14: A jirga was held at the DCO Secretariat here on Sunday to settle the ongoing dispute between Mahar and Bhaya clans.

Ghotki District Nazim Ali Gohar Khan Mahar and Manzoor Khan Panhwar were nominated as Ameens of the rival clans. The Ameens conducted the jirga proceedings and also announced their decision.

According to the verdict, Rs2.05 million was fixed as compensation amount to be paid by both the clans.

Clashes between Mahars and Bhayos erupted when two persons belonging to Bhaya clan were murdered and two others injured in firing restored by the Mahars during the last general election.
