Call to end tension through dialogue

BADIN, Dec 14: Speakers at a gathering titled Jashn-i-Latif here on Saturday evening called for bringing an end to Pakistan-India tension through dialogue.

The programme was arranged by the Badin chapter of the Awami Tehrik.

AT chief Rasool Bux Palijo, Ayaz Latif Palijo, Dada Qadir Ranto, Nazir Qureshi, Vishnu Mal and others spoke on the occasion.

Rasool Bux Palijo condemned Mumbai attacks and said that when the UN passed resolutions in favour of India and USA were being implemented quickly but the resolutions passed in favour of Kashmiri people could still await implementation.

He said the Pakistan-India tension could be eased through dialogue.

He said that small nations in the world could not get rid of the slavery of the western rulers till their exploitive system was replaced with that of a social justice and equality.

He said people in Pakistan were passing through a difficult times as they did not feel secure in their homes while dacoities, looting, terrorism and other crimes had become the order of the day. He said majority of the people were ill-nourished as it can not manage three time meals.

He said Pakistan was a multinational state and the federating units needed equal representation in important institutions including army, judiciary, parliament, senate, civil and financial institutions under the 1940 resolutions.

He urged the writers and intellectuals to accept the challenge of the 21st century which would require extraordinary commitment for human values and socio-cultural advancement in addition to elimination of illiteracy and poverty.
