HYDERABAD, Dec 12: An exchange of fire between two groups caused injuries to two people and forced the shopkeepers to pull down their shutters in Tando Mohammad Khan on Friday.

A skirmish between the Sarhandis and the Noonaris ensued when two Noonaris narrowly escaped an accident by the car of Pir Ahmed Jan Sarhandi.

The incident sparked fear due to intense firing from two sides. Economic activity was brought to a complete halt.

The injured were identified as Pir Yousuf Jan Sarhandi and More Noonari. The latter was shifted to the Civil Hospital Hyderabad because of his serious condition and former to the Civil Hospital Tando Mohammad Khan.

Area people said that the dispute started after the car of Pir Ahmed Jan Sarhandi crossed two Noonaris, thereafter, aggravating the situation on both fronts.

An hour-long firing gripped the city forcing traders to close down their businesses. However, police were able to bring situation under control.

District Police Officer Attaullah Chandio told journalists that he had called the two warring groups to his office and hoped of settling the matter amicably.

Meanwhile, the Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party leader Ahmed Noonari alleged that his house was attacked and ransacked by the Sarhandi youths.

No case was registered till the filing of this report.
