RAWALPINDI, Dec 7: A woman and her son were killed while her other son was injured in a road accident in the Civil Lines area, police said.

Waqas Masih, Jawad Masih and their mother Shagufta Bibi were travelling on a motorbike when a wagon hit them, killing the woman and her son Jawad on the spot and injuring Waqas.

The injured was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital while the bodies of the deceased were handed over to the family after postmortem. The wagon driver has escaped from the scene.

Meanwhile, Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi Region Nasir Khan Durrani has directed CPO/Rawalpindi and all DPOs of the region to make foolproof security arrangements on the eve of Eidul Azha.

He said due to the prevailing law and order situation all entry points and public transport stops should be checked.

He further stressed that drivers of the public transport should not drop any person at unauthorised stops. He also said the administrations of the bus terminals should make video films of all passengers before proceeding to their destination.

Sufficient deployment of law enforcement personnel in civil and uniform should be made at public parks, shopping centres, Eid bazaar, cattle markets and Eidgahs for security purpose.
