Hyun Sook wins ladies golf

KARACHI, Dec 5: Hyun Sook Kim from South Korea carded seven-under-par 65 to win the ladies golf tournament played over 18-holes at the Karachi Golf Club on Friday.

Kim’s 65 contained 7 pars and one birdie. Her compatriot Seung Kum Suk finished runner up with a net score of par 72. The gross title went to Mrs. Shirin Khan with a score of 90. Shahida Ismail finished runner up with 91.

Durdana Soomro, Lady Captain of the KGC, narrowly missed the Hole-in-One prize on blue hole No 8. Syra Vahidy won the honours for the longest drive of 196 yds.

Some 14 ladies participated in the contest with a handicap of 24 and below in a cloudy weather.

Meanwhile, a Chip’n Putt competition will be held on Saturday. It is open to all womenfolk irrespective of handicap.

Results:

Winner Net: Hyun Sook Kim 65; runner up Seung Kum Suk 72.

Winner Gross: Mrs. Shirin Khan 90; runner up Mrs. Shahida Ismail 91.

Longest drive: Mrs. Syra Vahidy 196 yards.—Sports Correspondent
