Nine police Officials suspended

Published December 3, 2008

RAWALPINDI, Dec 2: Regional Police Officer Nasir Khan Durrani during a surprise visit to Airport police station here on Tuesday suspended the SHO and eight sub-inspectors/assistant sub-inspectors for their poor performance and increased crime rate in the area.

During the visit, Mr Durrani observed that in one month 16 incidents of robbery took place in the police station area but no efforts were made to control the increasing crimes.

Pervaiz Akhtar Sheikh, a complainant, told the RPO that six days ago some robbers looted cash, mobile and other valuables from his business centre but, he added, no case had been registered against the accused.

The SHO on the occasion could not offer any satisfactory reply and tried to shift his responsibility on his subordinates. The RPO suspended him for increasing crimes in the area.

He also reviewed performance of other officials and observed that they had failed to arrest the proclaimed, court and target offenders and placed them under suspension.
