DADU: Crime graph rises in Dadu

DADU, Dec 1: As many as 2,262 FIRs were registered at 23 police stations of the district during eleven months of current year, which was a record if compared with last year’s record which stood at 1,678 FIRs.

According to the police record, during January-November, 12 people were kidnapped for ransom and all of them were recovered.

According to details, after the assassination of late Benazir Bhutto on December 27, a number of cases were registered like other parts of the country. In Dadu district 2,262 FIRs of different crimes were registered from January-November 2008 at 23 police station of the district.

Following the assassination of Benazir Bhutto the angry mob set ablaze more then 35 government offices, residences and private properties and shops and 259 FIRs were registered against more the 92,000 people, including the sitting parliamentarians of PPP and ministers at that time, while after coming into power the ATC on reports of Investigation police dismissed all 259 cases.

However, during the last 11 months, 150 people lost their lives, 35 per cent of them were women. Twelve persons, including three from minority- Anil, Ashwani and Sunny Kumar- were kidnapped who were later recovered mostly after paying ransom.

Scores of cases of robbery, theft, motorbike snatchings were registered but the motorbike snatching remained high as according to unofficial reports some 132 motorbike were snatched while police recovered only a few.

In 2005, 27 FIRs of oil theft from the Pak Arab Refinery Company (Parco) line near Haitam Jatoi railway crossing and village Daro Shaikh were lodged but none of the accused was arrested.
