Wholesale prices of LPG reduced

Published December 2, 2008

LAHORE, Dec 1: Lub Gas and Mehran LPG on Monday reduced their wholesale prices by Rs21-45 per 11.8kg cylinder in various parts of the country.

“The significant reduction in wholesale prices is being made to facilitate LPG consumers,” said Fasih Ahmed, spokesman of both the companies. “We will continue to work with our distributors to ensure that the benefit from this substantial price decrease reaches end-consumers and helps revive demand for product.”

With the latest price reduction, LPG wholesale prices have dropped by Rs190 per 11.8kg cylinder since September 8. Demand for LPG is unusually low for this time of the year, according to Ahmed. “We will continue to monitor the situation and ensure, as far as we can, the viability of LPG in comparison with other competing fuels,” he said.

The companies have reduced the wholesale price of an 11.8kg cylinder from Rs685 to Rs660 in Karachi; from Rs700 to Rs655 in Hyderabad; from Rs715 to Rs690 in the Punjab; from Rs715 to Rs690 in Dakhni; and from Rs720 to Rs700 in NWFP, FATA and the Northern Areas.
