Irfan Saeed, Daniya snatch victories

LAHORE, Nov 30: Irfan Saeed and Daniya won boys’ and girls’ under-19 titles of the National Junior badminton championship at the New Khan hall here on Sunday.

Punjab’s Irfan bounced back in the second game after losing the first 16-21.

He was much impressive with his lob and smashing shots in the second game, winning it 21-15.

In the third set, Irfan was in total command and finished the match by winning it 21-14.

Islamabad’s Daniya proved too good for Sindh’s Monisha folding the final in straight games.

Subhan and Sama Asif emerged champions of boys’ and girls’ under-16 events.

Boys’ U-19 singles: Irfan Saeed (Punjab) bt Awais Zahid (Punjab) 16-21, 21-15, 21-14.

Boys’ U-19 doubles: Arsalan Khan / Irfan Saeed (Punjab) bt Awais Zahid / Taimur Arab (Punjab) 21-18, 13-21, 21-15.

Boys’ U-16 singles: Subhan (Punjab) bt Amir Saeed (Punjab) 21-19, 21-14.

Boys’ U-16 doubles: Amir Saeed / Junaid Farooq bt Hassan Abbas / Kumail (Sindh) 13-21, 21-14, 21-18.

Girls’ U-19 singles: Daniya (Islamabad) bt Monisha (Sindh) 21-17, 21-17.

Girls’ U-19 doubles: Sumeira / Anila (Railways) bt Dania / Anum (Punjab) 17-21, 21-15, 21-18.

Girls’ U-16 singles: Sama Asif (Sindh) bt Marina Khan (Balochistan) 21-10, 21-14.

Girls’ U-16 doubles: Sama Asif / Saba Rasheed (Sindh) bt Ayesha / Amna (Punjab) 21-12, 21-14.
