KESC hold KPT in thriller at PPFL

Published November 30, 2008

KARACHI, Nov 29: Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) leveled with Karachi Port Trust (KPT) 1-1 in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) at the Peoples Sports Complex on Saturday.

Both teams had drawn 2-2 in their first leg match, played at the CDGK Stadium back in October also.

KPT got an early lead when their winger Zahid Ahmed converted his skipper Naseer Ahmed’s pass that penetrated the opponent’s defense to send it past KESC’s young keeper Mohammad Omar in the third minute.

The next 15 minutes could have brought two more goals for KPT had their striker

Shahid Saleem not missed the target while trying to convert little winger Abdul Rehman’s pass.

Due to lack of support at the other end, skipper Naseer’s pass to Zahid also went astray.

KESC too, after its own share of missed opportunities, finally managed to score when their striker Sohail Ishaq converted winger Hamza’s through pass in the 43rd minute.

The 1-1 score at interval remained so till the final whistle.

Sunday’s fixtures: Army v Pak Elektron Limited at Army Stadium, Rawalpindi; Navy v Punjab Medical College at Naval Complex, Islamabad; Pakistan Television v Wapda at PSB Ground, Islamabad. Matches kick off at 3.00pm.
