20 students injured in wall collapse

KASUR, Nov 29: At least 20 students, including girls of a private primary school, sustained serious injuries when the wall of an adjoining triple-storey house collapsed and fell on them here on Saturday at Kot Aligarh.

Amanat Ali was constructing a triple-story house adjacent to the Allama Iqbal Primary School. Suddenly one of the walls of the upper storey fell on the students sitting in the courtyard of the school. As a result 20 students suffered injuries.

The injured, including Ehsan, Muqadas, Ali Imran and Ali Ghulam Rasool, were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital from where Ghulam Rasool was referred to the Lahore General Hospital owing to head injuries.

Police are investigating.

CASE REGISTERED: On the orders of the Lahore High Court, Kasur police on Saturday registered a case against an SHO and ASI of the Pattoki Sadar police station for illegal detention and abuse of power.

Two weeks back, a police party, headed by ASI Amanat Ali, raided the house of Mubarak Masih after scaling the wall and arrested him.

The police did not register a case against Mubarak and detained him for a week. His family members moved the LHC and a court bailiff got the man released.

On the directions of the LHC, the Kasur police registered a case 550/08 against SHO Abdul Ghani and ASI Amanat Ali. electrocuted: A married woman was electrocuted while doing domestic chore in Chunian.
