MULTAN, Nov 27: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced establishing a state-of-the-art kidney centre and a public park at the site of the old General Bus Stand.

Talking to reporters here on Thursday at the Pervaiz Elahi Institute of Cardiology (PEIC), the chief minister said despite spending billions of rupees the institute was well short of necessary facilities owing to the negligence of the authorities concerned.

The chief minister said Dr Jawad, head of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC), Lahore, would stay in Multan for three months to bring the standard of the PIEC equal to the PIC.

He said all the facilities available at the PIC would be provided to PIEC in Multan and, for this purpose, he had allowed Dr Javed to use all authorities of the chief minister, the finance minister and the health minister.

Shahbaz said he would visit Multan for two days in every fortnight to oversee all matters related to the development work here.

He also announced giving the 27 acres of adjoining state land to the PIEC and 10 buses for the Degree College for Women, Kutchery Road.

He also assured the media persons that the journalists’ colony would also be established in Multan.

The chief minister said he would see on Friday (today) the matter of baton-charge on journalists by policeman Karamat Malik. The journalists were baton-charged when they gathered for the coverage during the visit of the chief minister to the PIEC.

SARGODHA: The chief minister took a serious notice of corruption in the amount allocated for the water supply scheme in Chak 45-SB, some 25 kilometers from here.

He ordered Saleem Dogar, the director-general of the Anti-Corruption, to fix responsibility within the 48 hours and take to task the culprits involved in corruption.

The chief minister said this during a brief visit here to offer his condolences with PML-N’s London president Chaudhry Zaheer Ahmed Gondal on the death of his father.

The chief minister was informed that different amounts were allocated in 1982, 1995, 2001 and 2006 for the water supply scheme in the village, but no practical work was ever carried out.

Mr Shahbaz said it was a heinous crime to spare those who had misappropriated such big amounts.

He alleged that the national wealth was plundered with both hands in the past regime and the PML-N government would retrieve every penny from the corrupt elements.

The CM also attended the marriage of MPA Sahibzada Ghulam Nizamuddin Sialvi. He was also accompanied by MPAs, a PML-N MNA and party office bearers.
