LAHORE, Nov 25: A competitive card of six-events awaits race goers during the midweek Lahore Gymkhana races to be held at the Racecourse on Wednesday.

The events are subscribed by 10 to 16 horses with four to six chance horses in each race to make winner picking a difficult task for the backers.

Four events are to be contested over the sprinting distance of 1,000 metres and two over 1,100 metres.

The feature event, the Chunian Plate, class VI, division I and II to be contested over 1,100 metres, has the largest field of 16 runners.

Of them at least four look on equal chance, namely, Pretty Girl, Royal Passion, Scarlet Empress and Credit Card.

The four-year-old filly Pretty Girl who had won a good race last Wednesday will be on the trot to make it two wins in a row.The three-year-old filly Royal Passion, who was beaten to second place in her previous outing on Sunday, will be there to make this a close contest. Credit Card has an edge in the handicap. The distance favours Scarlet Empress. This will be the fifth race of the day.

The supporting and sixth race, the Chunian Plate, class VI, division III and IV to be gone over 1,100 metres has the second largest field, consisting of 14 runners.

Four-year-old unknown filly Green Desert with two facile victories in her bag will be on the course to stretch her streak to complete a hat-trick of wins. She stands a good chance too.

The four-year-old bay filly Bashahyeash Prince and the gelding High Quality are the other form runners, who could prove to be a challenge for Green Desert and even bring a halt to her winning streak.

Silent Assassin, Bobby Love and Sana My Love attract attention in the fourth race, the Rahim Yar Khan Plate, class VII, division I to be run over 1,000 metres.

Silent Assassin was beaten twice in as many outings and should make amends and win the race to salvage stable pride. Sana My Love, Bobby Love and Best Owner should give her a tough fight before bowing out.

Kainat, Pretty Mehak and Bagh-o-Bahar are the pick of the third race, the Rahim Yar Khan Plate, class VII, division II, run over over 1,000 metres. Bagh-o-Bahar is showing lack of form while the other two Kainat and Pretty Mehak are in fine form for a tough battle for the top honours.

Three contenders — Independence Day, Best Choice, King’s UK – are looking good in the second race. Independence Day, who was beaten on its last outing, should oblige the owner, who paid a bargain price to increase the stable’s strength.

Sana, Raftar-e-Sehar and Pakistani are the pick of the 10 runners drawn for the first race. They should fight for the spoils.

The first race will be held

at 1:00pm.
