3.7 tons of drugs seized

QUETTA, Nov 25: Anti-Narcotics Force and Coast Guards personnel foiled attempts to smuggle 3.7 tons of drugs and arrested six smugglers on Tuesday.

According to sources, a vehicle was intercepted in coastal area of Pishkan in Gwadar district and the six smugglers were arrested after an exchange of fire. The vehicle and 2,500kg of hashish and arms and ammunition were seized.

In another operation in Qila Abdullah, the ANF seized 1,200kg of opium smuggled from Afghanistan.

“The hashish and opium had been brought to Pakistan from Afghanistan for smuggling to Europe through Gwadar coast,” official sources said, adding that the value of the contraband was estimated at Rs3 billion.
