ISLAMABAD, Nov 25: The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has granted licences to another 10 satellite television channels, including the country’s first channel dedicated to health related services and one for children.

Two educational institutions, the Ziauddin Medical University of Karachi and the Hazara University of Mansehra have been given non-commercial FM radio licence. The authority has also approved 145 cable TV licences.

In a statement issued here, Pemra stressed the need for phase-wise digitalisation of broadcast and distribution services.

It called for strengthening the Council of Complaints to enable it to take immediate and effective action on public complaints.
