KHAIRPUR, Nov 25: A policeman killed his wife and a man on the pretext of karo-kari in Jail colony here on Monday.

Prison police constable Abdul Razzaq Jatoi opened fire at his wife Koonj in their house as a result she died on the spot. He also killed a man, Manthar Jatoi, in the same house. The accused used official gun in the double murder and escaped from the scene.

However, the A-section police arrested him from Faizabad colony and recovered the weapon used in the offence. Police took the bodies to the Khairpur Civil Hospital for post-mortem and, after it, handed them over to relatives.

Rab Dino Jatoi, the father of Manthar, told journalists at the Civil Hospital that his son was innocent.

FARES: Khairpur Regional Transport Authority secretary Abdul Qadeer Ansari at a meeting with transporters here on Tuesday directed them to charge transport fares from passengers as per new schedule fixed after a decrease in oil prices.

He warned that legal action would be taken against those transporters who were found overcharging.

The transport owners assured him of charging fares as per new schedule.
