GUJRAT, Nov 22: The three-day workshop on “Teaching methods and microteaching practices” concluded here on Saturday.

The workshop was jointly organised by the Faculty Development Resource Centre (FDRC) and the International Centre for Civil Society and Cooperatives (ICCSC) of the University of Gujrat (UoG) on its Hafiz Hayat Campus with the collaboration of the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

HEC Professor Dr Makhdoom Ali Shah had on day first highlighted the importance of teaching techniques and modern teaching methods at the higher level. The Director Learning Innovation, HEC, Fida Husain, said the HEC was keen to equip the new and young faculty of Pakistani universities to adopt modern techniques and teaching methods to impart knowledge to the young generation.

Master trainer Zahid Majeed shared the skills and knowledge required for the adult learning, especially at the university level.

In the closing session, FDRC associate director Ms Nisa Mirza shared her views on the training of teachers and its importance.

She also thanked the HEC and the resource person for conducting the workshop for the new UoG faculty.

The workshop was summed up by ICCSC deputy director project Shahid Minhas who gleaned the impressions and experiences of participants by inviting them on the rostrum. In his concluding remarks, Prof Dr Makhdoom Ali Shah appreciated the commitment of participants, the organizing team, the administration, the HEC and resource persons.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nizamuddin gave a brief analysis of the teaching methodology being used in India and other neighbouring countries. The guest of the evening session, Ms Noor Amna Malik, the director- general of the HEC Learning Innovation, lauded the quality of sessions, lecture delivery and presentations given by participants.

Out of the 34 participants, 29 have successfully completed the workshop requirements and are awarded certificates.
