KARACHI, Nov 21: Sindh who had sent two teams in the form of Sindh Greens and Sindh Greys to compete in the 8th National Women’s Netball Championship, defended their title well by beating Police 19-15 at the final played at the Islamia College for Women, Faisalabad, on Friday.
In the other match, Wapda beat Punjab 21-13 to take the third position.
Once again Goal Shooter Quratulain had a big hand in Sindh Greens’ victory when she scored 17 goals with Goal Attack Umama Qadri bringing in the remaining two.
In the Wapda-Punjab encounter, Wapda’s GS Umm-e-Laila scored 18 goals and GA Rizwana three.
The matches were supervised by umpires Khalid Parvaiz, Rizwan Bashir, Anwar Ahmed, Maqbool Ahmed, Shahid Amin, Mohammad Rashid, Qudsia Raja, Uzma Kiran and Zaibunnisa.
Sindh Greens’ Quratulain, the highest scorer of the event (64 goals), was named the player of the tournament.
The three-day event was organised by the Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF) and Punjab Netball Association (PNA) in collaboration with Pakistan Sports Trust (PST) and the Faisalabad Netball Association (FNA).
