KARACHI, Nov 20: Besides the pool matches, day two of the 8th National Women’s Netball Championship saw the completion of the semi-final round with Sindh Greens and Police qualifying for the final at the Islamia College for Women, Faisalabad, on Thursday.

The first match played between Sindh Greens and Punjab Greens was won by Sindh Greens 23-9 with Quratulain, Aisha, Umama Qadri and Humaira Huma of Sindh Greens playing a key role in their team’s triumph. Goal shooter Quratulain made 16 goals while goal attack Umama contributed seven.

The second match saw Wapda thrashing Lahore Grammar School 29-9 with GS Umm-e-Laila bringing in most of the goals for the winners while in the third one between Sindh Greys and Punjab Blues, the latter trounced the former 20-9.

After culmination of the pool matches, Sindh Greens and Police from Pool ‘A’ and Punjab Blues and Wapda from Pool ‘B’ qualified for the semi-finals.

The first semi-final between Sindh Greens and Wapda was won by Sindh Greens with a narrow margin of 20-18 goals. Scoring all of the 20 goals for Sindh, their GS Quratulain was outstanding once again.

Meanwhile, in the day’s last match, the second semi-final, Police edged past Punjab Blues 16-15. Romana of Police was largely instrumental in their win.

The event, organised by the Pakistan Netball Federation (PNF) and Punjab Netball Association (PNA) in collaboration with Pakistan Sports Trust (PST) and the Faisalabad Netball Association (FNA), will see the playing of the final, between Sindh Greens and Police, at the same venue on Friday.
