HYDERABAD, Nov 20: Sindh Bricks Kiln Association called off their strike on Thursday, said General Secretary Mohammad Farooq Shoukat during a news conference at the press club.
He said that all kilns in Sindh had gone on strike since November 17 in protest against the negative attitude of some NGOs which rendered tens of thousands of workers jobless. He said that kiln owners too, suffered huge losses and hoped the judiciary and administration would realise ground realities.
He called upon the government to hold a high-level inquiry against the NGOs trying to exploit workers.
He said that the association was grateful to International Human Rights Commission and Insaan Dost Tahreek Pakistan for intervening in the matter.
GROUP FORMED: The Constituency Relations Group for NA-218 Matiari was organised by the leaders some three months back for identification of problems of the constituency and place it before concerned representatives.
Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Thursday, Dilbar Khan Laghari, Sikandar Baloch, Jehan Khan, Dhani Bux Memon and others said that the main objective of this group was to fill the vacuum between assembly members and their constituents.
They said that assembly members needed a link to keep them posted about educational, health and other civic problems.
They said that there was a need to establish a university in Matiari for higher educational facilities for students.
They said that unemployment was rampant along with the absence of industrial zone and a vocational training school for women of Matiari.
Leaders of the groups said that they would soon be holding a peoples forum where members of the assembly will be invited to hear problems of their constituents.
