LAHORE, Nov 18: The midweek Lahore Gymkhana races have attracted a large number of entries for the seven-event card at the Racecourse on Wednesday.

There are 81 horses in the field for the events to go over the sprinting distance of 1,000 metres, which also include some thoroughbred juveniles whose participation along with other pedigreed horses would add new flavour to the midweek races, which so far had been dominated by unknown pedigree runners.

The feature event, the Kahna Plate, class VI, division I has nine runners, barring last-minute withdrawals. Three of them are very prominent; two by their performances in races and the third on bloodline. They are: Extravagant, Brave Heart and Miss Hattab.

Bay horse Extravagant should make amends for his defeat, when out the last time, to win the seventh and the last race.

The supporting and sixth race has a sizeable field of 13 runners, if there are no last-minute withdrawals. They are: Miss Brave Heart, Fakhar-e-Sialkot and Geo Bhakkar. If nothing goes wrong, they should fight in the same order too.

High Quality, Murad King and Bashahyesh Prince are the pick of a dozen runners listed for the fifth race. High Quality has been unlucky twice, losing to better horses and should make amends this time. Bashahyesh Prince has still not yet been tried and could be a big threat to High Quality.

Green Desert had won a good race in style on his last outing and will be on the course to make it a two-in-a-row. Best Owner, Sana My Love and Silent Assassin look good to fight for places. This will be the fourth race of the day.

Bobby Love, Gypsy and Alpha Juliet attract attention by their form and performances on the track. Bobby Love has been very unlucky to lose thrice in his previous outings. Pitched in a mediocre company, Bobby Love has a chance to win the third race.

The first race will be held at 12:30pm.
