Body to probe dengue spread

Published November 16, 2008

LAHORE, Nov 15: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered formation of a committee to identify people who failed to take dengue control measures at appropriate time.

Speaking at a meeting on the campaign for elimination of dengue virus in the province, Sharif sought a report on the dengue situation after fumigation in all areas of the city. He told the authorities to accelerate the fumigation campaign and provide free treatment to dengue patients admitted in hospitals.

The chief minister was informed that 21 machines were fumigating the city and 65 union councils had been fumigated so far. Special desks had been set up to collect data on dengue patients under treatment in hospitals.

The health secretary said no dengue case was reported in Faisalabad, while only one patient was under treatment in a Multan hospital.
