KARACHI, Nov 12: The Prime Minister’s Adviser on Interior Affairs Rehman Malik has vowed to eradicate hawala business form the country.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Mr Malik said elements involved in the hundi business would face action, but the money sent by people through the system would be returned in 48 hours.

He said the case of the Khanani and Kalia foreign exchange company would be handled in accordance with the law. He said some representatives of the Forex Association had requested leniency in the case but he had made it clear that action would be taken at all costs.

He said the Pakistan People’s Party, Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the business fraternity would work together for maintaining peace in Karachi.

He said only the names of those nominated in the FIR of the currency smuggling case had been placed on the Exit Control List. He denied reports that a list of businessmen and politicians linked with the case was being prepared. He also said that more arrests were possible in the case..—APP
