LAHORE, Nov 11: Two alleged criminals were killed in a ‘shootout’ with the CIA police near Jehangir’s Tomb in Shahdara on Tuesday night.

The victims identified as Rashid of Narowal and Shahid of Shahkot were wanted by police in 16 cases of heinous crime.

The CIA Kotwali police said some officials, led by SI Umar Farooq, had set up a picket near Jehangir’s Tomb where they signalled two motorcyclists who opened fire on the police.

The police responded effectively and an ensuing shootout left the two motorcyclists dead. The police officials remained unhurt.

The police claimed they had seized two pistols and the motorcycle which the robbers had taken away from a citizen in Wahdat Colony two days ago. They had also shot dead constable Muhammad Azeem in Misri Shah last year.

The bodies were shifted to the mortuary for autopsy.
