ISLAMABAD, Nov 10: The All Pakistan Newspapers Employees Confederation (Apnec) and Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) have decided to launch a campaign from November 28 to mount pressure on the government to implement the Seventh Wage Award and to protest against sacking of scores of journalists from different media organisations, including private TV channels.
A meeting of the national executive committee and federal executive council of the two organisations held in Abbottabad decided to observe Nov 26 as ‘Demands Day’ when protest rallies will be held across the country to force the media owners to implement the Seventh Wage Award and the government to constitute the Eighth Wage Board.
The meeting also decided to observe Wednesday, Nov 12, as “Protest Day,” against the killing of journalist Qari Shoaib Mohammad by security forces in Mingora.
