LAHORE, Nov 6: After a stopover for one day in the city, the Himalayan Classic Rally of vintage cars left for India via Wagah border on Thursday.

In all, 40 vintage cars with 60 travelers arrived in Lahore on Wednesday.

The rally started from Netherlands on Oct 14 and roared in Pakistan from Iran after passing through Greece and Turkey. The rally has to cover 15,000 kilometers to reach at its destination in Bhutan after six weeks. From India, the rally will travel to Nepal before reaching Bhutan. The oldest car in the rally is said to be of Jane McCain, manufactured some 81 years ago. The other oldest models in the rally were manufactured in 1930, 1945 and 1967.

Mr McCain said that he was enjoying the mission and felt quite comfortable in Pakistan. Though the stay of the rally in Lahore was only one day, it was pleasant one and memorable. — Sports Reporter
