Published November 6, 2008

LAHORE, Nov 5: A Punjab government spokesman has said that no decision has been made for spending an additional amount on chief minister’s security and the allegations levelled in a press conference in this regard are baseless.

In a handout issued here on Wednesday, the spokesman said as foreign heads, important personalities, delegations from federal government and diplomatic communities were continuously visiting Lahore, Punjab government had taken measures for improving their security, besides purchasing some necessary equipment.

He mentioned that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, after taking the oath of his office, had refused a new bullet proof car purchased by the previous government.

He further said that the federal government had set up a separate security division in Islamabad for important personalities.
