KARACHI, Nov 4: Upcoming Farhan Mustafa pulled off a major upset when he humbled second seed Yayha Essa in three sets to advance into boys under-15 singles quarter-finals of the 18th STA Talent Hunt Sindh ranking tennis championship at the CDGK sports complex on Tuesday.
After losing the opener 4-6, Farhan of Al Hamra Club, recovered to turn the tables on Yayha of Modern Club by claiming the following two sets 7-5, 6-3 in over two hour battle.
Abdul Rehman, Nameer Shamsi and Omer also joined Farhan in making it to the last eight by winning their matches straight. Ozair A. Qadir, Adil Kohari and Mustafa Zaidi have already reached the quarters.
Making his appearance in juniors’ under-17 singles, Nameer, a junior international, gave scintillating performance when he overcame his contemporary Adil Kohari 7-6, 4-6, 6-1 to propel into last four.
The other player who reached the juniors’ under-17 semis is Talha Saeed who beat Hamza Pataudi 6-1, 6-2.
