PESHAWAR, Nov 3: Two persons were kidnapped in the city and a rocket fired from undisclosed location landed near Peshawar airport on Monday.
It was learnt that an official of Afghan Commissionarate was picked from the road when he was coming from Haji Camp in Hayatbad. The official identified as Shakeel Ahmed was returning from Haji Camp after meeting some of his relatives at Haji Camp.
An official at Hayatabad police station avoided giving details about the case but confirmed that Shakeel was kidnapped. He claimed that efforts were being made to locate the whereabouts of the kidnapped person.
In a similar incident, a grade 9 student Aamir son of Painda Khan, a resident of Sra Khawra, was kidnapped when he was coming from school to home.
His father told police that the bicycle of his son was found at roadside, adding that he searched the boy everywhere and also contacted his relatives but could not find him. He asked for registration of a kidnapping case in this regard. A police official said that relatives of the student were avoiding getting registered a case and were of the opinion that they had no enmity.
Meanwhile, a police official said that unidentified persons fired a rocket from undisclosed locations which landed near Peshawar airport. He said the incident occurred at about 3am but no casualties were reported as it landed away from the buildings. The rocket, he said, went off with a big bang and panicked the people.
