Ghani XI surge to the top

KARACHI, Nov 2: District West champions Ghani XI went to the top of the KASB Premier League Football points table by beating District East champions Karachi Kickers 2-1.

Meanwhile, defending champions Shahzad Mohammadan and Baloch Mujahid drew 1-1 in the two matches played at the CDGK Stadium on Saturday.

In the first match, Ghani XI’s right winger Zaheer Ahmed opened scoring in the 19th minute. But parity was restored by Karachi Kickers in the 34th minute through their skipper and left winger Zeeshan Tara.

Ghani XI’s winning goal came just three minutes before the final whistle when striker Jamaluddin converted a pass from their midfielder Mushtaq Ahmed.

Ghani XI lead the standings with 20 points.

The first goal in the other match was scored by Shahzad Mohammadan’s striker Asghar Baloch in the 44th minute.

The second session saw Baloch Mujahid getting the equaliser when their striker Mohammad Nadeem scored on a pass from midfielder Mohammad Hanif in the 51st minute.
