Kidnapped boy recovered

SIALKOT, Nov 2: The Sialkot police on Sunday recovered a minor boy who had been kidnapped for ransom 24 hours back in front of his house in city’s congested Rangpura locality.

This was claimed by Sialkot DPO Muhammad Ameen at a press conference at his office here.

SP (investigation) Rao Muneer and district peace committee senior member Zafar Malik were also present on this occasion.

The DPO told newsmen that Shahid and Saleem kidnapped local factory worker Muhammad Nadeem’s minor son Usman Nadeem (4) for ransom from in front of his house. He said the accused were residing there in a rented house and were neighbours of Nadeem. The accused took the boy to Chicherwali-Gujranwala and demanded Rs150,000 ransom by making calls from different cell phones. The DPO said one accused - Shahid – was also searching Usman along with Nadeem and his family.

On a tip-off, the police raided Gujranwala, recovered the boy and arrested both the captors after 24 hours of the incident.

The DPO said one of the accused – Saleem - had been jailed in a murder case and was recently released on bail.

He announced cash prize and appreciation certificates for the raiding party.
