HYDERABAD, Nov 2: People were experiencing many problems due to mismanagement of government offices, hospitals, educational institutions, revenue and police departments, according to Adviser to Sindh Chief Minister on Anti-Corruption Establishment and Inquiries Gul Muhammad Laat.

He said at a meeting with officers of provincial and district governments at Shahbaz Building on Saturday that good governance was key to prosperity of a nation. Therefore, the government was focusing on institutional development and eradication of corruption, he said.

He said that for good governance, the managements of all the government departments had been directed to computerise their record and establish complaint centres so that people’s grievances could be redressed in time.

He asked the departments, which were working well to publicise their work to help build image of the government. Although foreign reserves played a vital role but efficient utilisation of financial resources was an equally more important factor in national development, he added.

He said that the previous government had flooded the country with vehicles by advancing loans and managed affairs of the country through artificial financial management by getting repayment of loans rescheduled in the wake of 9/11 incident.

He claimed that the country was being pulled out of financial mire by the efforts of present government and President Asif Ali Zardari.
