MURREE, Oct 29: A youth from Gujrat shot and injured his younger sister for honour here on Wednesday.

According to police, Tariq Rohaib, a resident of Khanni Tak village of Murree, married Sabrina in Gujrat where he worked at a hotel about one-and-a-half years back.

The family of the girl registered a case against Tariq on the charge of kidnapping the girl. However, the Lahore High Court later gave a verdict in favour of the couple.

Despite the court verdict, the family members of the girl allegedly tried to kill Tariq and his wife on a number of occasions.

Last night, Jehangir, a 17-year-old brother of Sabrina, along with his mother reached the village here.

According to the police, Jehangir opened five shots on the girl and seriously injured her. The mother of Tariq also sustained injuries.

A large number of residents gathered on the spot and overpowered the accused and handed him over to the police along with the weapon.

The seriously injured girl, who is reportedly pregnant, was first shifted to Murree hospital from where she was transferred to Rawalpindi where her condition is stated to be serious.
