KOHAT: Rocket hits army building

KOHAT, Oct 29: A rocket fired by unknown militants pierced through the roof of the Military Engineering Services (MES) building in the Cantonment area here on Tuesday night.

Officials said that the rocket was fired from unknown location which hit the MES Bungalow and destroyed one of its rooms. However, no casualties were reported in the attack.

The Cantonment police registered a case against the unknown terrorists and started investigation.

SUSPECTS HELD: The number of illegal foreigners and suspicious persons detained during the ongoing joint operation by the local police and security forces rose to 228 with the arrest of five more suspects on Wednesday.

Security forces arrested the foreigners during the last fortnight from the Indus Highway, refugee camps, Darra Adamkhel and other areas. They were being interrogated at various places including the headquarters of the Frontier Constabulary and by the intelligence agencies. Only few of them had been found guilty of helping the militants.

At least 75 people were held for pillion riding and displaying weapons in violation of Section 144 imposed in the district for 60 days on Wednesday.

Police seized two Kalashnikovs, three shotguns, five rifles, 12 pistols, 150 cartridges and 50 bikes during checking in various parts of the city. —Correspondent
