LAHORE, Oct 28: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has arrested the Samanabad Town tehsil municipal officer (TMO) and the Wagah Town finance tehsil officer (TO) for embezzling hundreds of thousands of rupees in licence fee.

According to a handout, TMO Imtiaz Awan and TO Nazar Husain, in connivance with contractors, embezzled huge amounts by preparing fake notification for overcharging licence fee.

The inspection wing of the local government department found them responsible for embezzlement in the licence fee, on which the ACE registered a case against them.

Later, an ACE team consisting of deputy directors Aftab Rasool Tarrar and Tanveer Warraich and inspector Asim Iftikhar raided their offices and arrested them.—APP
