HYDERABAD, Oct 28: Hussainabad police lodged a separate murder case Monday against a local PML-Q leader, Dr Shafiq Arain who, police said, had earlier confessed to murdering his wife and driver on the 20th of this month.

Dr Arain was granted pre-arrest bail by Additional District Judge-III on Monday in a sum of Rs200,000.

According to the DPO, the doctor confessed of the double murder before him and other police officers. Yet, police did not arrest him in the case on the ground that registration of a separate FIR was required because he himself was a complainant in the case.

The second complainant of the case, Shaukat Junejo and brother of driver Shakeel Junejo said that he was in Kotri on the fateful day and received a call from his brother who said that Dr Shafiq Arain had killed his wife and may also kill him (Shakeel).

He asked Shaukat to rescue him from the garage of Dr Shafiq as he was hiding there.

Police had arrived at the house before the complainant, while the complainant learnt the news of killings from a TV channel.
