HYDERABAD, Oct 26: A group of people belonging to Kolhi, Meghwar and Bheel communities staged a demonstration outside the press club here on Sunday to protest against discrimination being meted out to low-caste Hindus by successive governments.

Speaking on the occasion, Meero Bheel, Mukesh Meghwar, Dayanand Kumar Kolhi and others claimed that they were the real Sindhis and were settled in Sindh even before the Drawarians.

They said the majority of scheduled caste lived in Sindh and claimed that their population was 95 per cent out of the total population of Hindus.

They, however, regretted that no quota in the assemblies, employment or residential schemes had been reserved for them. They said that they were being victimised by feudal lords, capitalists and Rajputs.

They regretted that the high caste Hindus who were only five per cent of the total population of Hindus, became MNAs, MPAs and ministers who patronised their own class. The scheduled caste was always neglected and ignored in every walk of life, they said and added that it was only Muttahida Qaumi Movement which had given one seat to the scheduled caste.—Bureau
