CHICAGO, Oct 25: Police on Saturday were searching for the missing seven-year-old nephew of Oscar-winning actress and singer Jennifer Hudson after her mother and brother were gunned down.

Authorities arrested a suspect in the Friday shooting deaths, but no charges had been filed, police told Chicago media.

The Hollywood star’s older sister, Jennifer Hudson, discovered the victims after returning home from her day shift at a bus company and summoned the police, reportedly telling them her son, Julian King, was missing.

Law enforcement agencies immediately issued an all points bulletin for the boy, who remained missing on Saturday.

The shooting victims were Hudson’s mother, Darnell Donnerson, 57, and her brother, Jason Hudson, 29, in what police described as domestic violence.

Donnerson suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Hudson was shot in the chest, according to the Cook County Examiner’s Office.

News reports and neighbours identified the suspect as William Balfour, Julia Hudson’s estranged husband and the step-father of her son.—AFP
