ISLAMABAD, Oct 22: Alekseenko Vadim (Ukraine) eighth seed created an upset in the ITF Pakistan Futures International Tennis Championship (F2) when he ousted top seed Bogdan Leonte (Romania) in straight sets 6-2, 4-1 played at the PTF Tennis Complex on Wednesday.

Alekseenko built up the winning lead 4-1 in the first set breaking the fourth game of Leonte hitting powerful shots down the lines.

The Ukrainian won the first set 6-2 breaking the eighth game of the Romanian player who made two double faults.

Alekseenko kept the same pressure in the second set and built up the winning lead 3-1 breaking the second game of Leonte.

When the score reached 4-1 and Leonte was serving 0-30 he conceded the match due to injury. Alekseenko confirmed a berth for the semi-final in the men’s singles event.

Meanwhile, Vasiliev Mikhail (Russia), Abdukhalikov Syrym (Kazakhstan), and Taubert Patrick (Germany) also advanced into the men’s singles semi-final defeating their respective opponents.

In the first semi-final of doubles event Chinese pair Chen I-Ta & Lee Hsin-Han defeated Bains Maniel & Feaver James (Great Britain) 6-3 6-3.

In the second semi-final Abdukalikov Syrym (Kazakhstan) & Vasiliev Mikhail (Russia) sidelined Aqeel Khan (Pakistan) & Sipaeya Suni Kumar (India) in straight sets 6-2 6-1 and qualified for the men’s doubles final.

Men’s doubles semi-finals:Abdukhalikov (Kazakhstan) & Vasiliev Mikhail (Russia) bt Aqeel Khan (Pakistan) & Sunil Kumar Sipaeya (India) 6-2 6-1; Chen I-Ta & Lee Hsin-Han (China) bt Maniel Banis & James Feaver (Great Britian) 6-3 6-3.
