LANDI KOTAL: Surgeon abducted

Published October 22, 2008

LANDI KOTAL, Oct 21: Unidentified gunmen on Tuesday kidnapped a surgeon from Jamrud tehsil of the Khyber Agency, sources said.

The sources said that Dr Zaman Khattak was on his way to Peshawar from Jamrud Civil Hospital when unidentified men abducted him on gun point. The kidnappers, however, did not take away the vehicle he was traveling in.

Officials of the Jamrud political administration said that they had registered a case against the unknown abductors and started investigations.

Dr Khattak’s abduction is the fourth of its kind in the last four days in Jamrud tehsil.

Unidentified gunmen had kidnapped a shopkeeper and his son from Jamrud bazaar on Monday while a resident of Ghundi Said Akbar was kidnapped on Sunday while on his way to his home from the same bazaar.

Another resident of Landi Kotal tehsil was abducted by some armed masked men on Saturday last. No organisation or individual has accepted responsibility for the kidnappings.
