KARACHI, Oct 18: Four-year-old chestnut colt Crown Prince, who delighted the punters with his sterling performance on Oct 5, is rated to make it two wins on the trot in same fashion when the Gymkhana race meeting takes place at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.
Following five successive failures he overcame the jinx posting a facile 12 lengths’ victory under rider Nasir to establish his credentials for striking again provided nothing unforeseen happens.
The colt from the stables of KRC administrator, Haji Khuda Bux Rajar, is drawn alongside six contestants in the class V div I and II fourth race to be run over six furlongs.
He is likely to be chased by filly Baby John and bay The Conqueror.
A card of nine races, including three cups, has been drawn for the day and the first race gets into action at 12.30pm.
On reputation, debutant filly Millions In Mind should kickoff her career by landing The Performance Cup restricted for two-year-old colts and fillies.
Another two-year-old filly 3 Knot 3 should follow her footsteps among five six runners in an earlier race.
In a test of endurance, three-year-old bay filly Claim To Fame looks fancied to claim The Eclipse Stakes, a term race for three-year-old horses to be run over a mile.
She had three wins in six attempts under her belt and her form suggests that should make it two-in-a-row by overcoming four rivals.
She should have to beat colt Sayeen Jee who is on course for a hat trick.
The Mile Championship, a handicap race for four-year-old and above horses, will be a close affair between mare Abhi Abhi and filly Diamond In Dust.
The former enjoys an edge on current form whereas the latter has a good chance on handicap. However, Abhi Abhi from the stables of Pir Pagara is our fancy and should go all out to grab the honours.
Syed Ali Gohar’s Shah four-year-old bay colt Walayat who galloped to his maiden win last Sunday looks smart to clinch the opener while colt Halal Tob who was beaten by four-and-a-half lengths in the last run should make amend this time in the next race.
Four-year-old colt Die-Na-Might, bay Invazor and bay Silver City have bright chances to win the other races.
