KOHAT: 1,730 flour bags seized

KOHAT, Oct 18: The police seized huge quantity of flour being smuggled to Afghanistan on the Indus Highway from six trucks and arrested the drivers here on Saturday.

The Janglekhel police stopped the trucks, loaded with 1,730 bags of flour each weighing 80 kilograms, on the link road in the city and arrested Javed, Javed Khan, Sayal Khan, Ilyas, Gulzar and Rab Nawaz.

DEATH PENALTY: A local court awarded death sentence to a man already serving three years in the Kohat prison on Saturday.

Murder convict Azeem Khan of Bara Khyber Agency residing in Togh Bala, was presented before the court of District and Sessions Judge Akhunzada Shah Jehan who sentenced him on the basis of statements recorded by eyewitnesses.

The convict had killed Ainullah many years back and had been undergoing imprisonment for the last three years in another case.
