LARKANA, Oct 17: Following the escape of an under-trial prisoner from the court’s premises, seven police officials including two ASIs were arrested here on Friday.

The acting District Police Officer, Mohammad Yousud Ridd, said that an FIR against the police officials had been registered under Sections 223, 224 and 225 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and they were being interrogated.The line officer of the district police headquarters, Inspector Imtiaz Shaikh, had lodged the FIR with the Civil Lines police against ASIs Ayaz Umrani and Ghulam Qadir Kumbhar and head constables Abdul Majeed Baladi, Ghulam Mehdi Tunio and constables Ghulam Qadir Sangi, Ghulam Qadir Jagirani and Mohammed Siddik Dahar.

On Thursday an under-trial prisoner, Jabbar Jatoi alais Jaboo, wanted in over a dozen of cases, escaped from the police custody after attending a hearing in the court of the first additional session judge of Larkana.

The police are investigating but are clueless about the whereabouts of the criminal.
