THATTA, Oct 14: Pakistan People’s Party MPA Humera Alwani has deplored the delays in the repair of the collapsed bridge over Ghorabari Outfall Drain.

She alleged that the officials concerned while denying people of the facility were acting against the public welfare polices of the government.

Talking to Dawn, the MPA urged Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take notice of the matter.

She said that the bridge collapsed a couple of months back was one of the major communication sources interconnecting the talukas of Ghorabari, Mirpur Sakro, Keti Bunder, Kharochhan and Thatta.

The MPA said that a majority of lower class and middle class population including fishermen, labourers, traders, students, peasant and women out of total 1.4 million population of Thatta district resided in these coastal talukas and were facing problems due to the delay in restoration of the communication facility through this bridge. She said patients, students and employees were the worst sufferers.

Ms Alwani said that she had submitted a question and would further raise her voice in the Sindh Assembly on the subject if the facility was not restored soon.
