PESHAWAR, May 9: NWFP Governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah has condemned the bomb blast in Karachi and expressed deep sense of grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives in the terrorist act.

In a statement on Thursday, the governor said that Pakistan could not be pressured through such dastardly actions and it would continue to fight against terrorism with full force and vigour, thus upholding its honorable identity at the international scene. In fact, he said, such ugly actions were aimed at defaming Pakistan and sabotaging its endeavours in the fight against terrorism.

Expressing sympathies with the bereaved families, the governor said that the perpetrators of this inhuman act would never escape from the law and they would be nabbed and punished.

In a separate message, the governor expressed deep sense of grief and sorrow over the murder of noted religious scholar, Dr Ghulam Murtaza Malik.—PPI

SHERPAO: Former NWFP Chief Minister, Aftab Ahmed Khan on Thursday expressed anguish over suicide bombing in Karachi which left 16 persons dead, including 12 French nationals, our Peshawar Bureau adds.

In a statement here, he termed the ghastly incident a conspiracy to shatter the country’s economy and create chaos among the people.

The leader of his own faction of PPP said the brutal killing of the French naval experts would send a wrong message across the world. The targeting of French nationals, he continued, was an attempt to harm the Pakistan-French ties which had positively contributed to enhancing our defence capability.

He went on to say that since Pakistan had valiantly sided with the international community in its war on terrorism, the terrorists were out to punish us for this noble deed.
