Gayle to lead Stanford Superstars

ST JOHN’S (Antigua), Oct 11: West Indies captain Chris Gayle was on Friday named skipper of the Stanford Superstars who will face England in the 20-million-dollar Stanford Twenty20 on Nov 1.

The left-handed opening batsman will have Antigua and Barbuda captain Sylvester Joseph as his deputy.

“Our selection panel gave much thought to this selection and deliberated extensively and there was consensus that Chris is the man for the job, he’s an experienced international cricketer, possesses a cool head in this all important match,” said selection panel head Sir Vivian Richards.
