MINGORA, Oct 10: Six militants were killed and several wounded as gunship helicopters pounded suspected hideouts in Malam Jabba, Swat on Friday.

The gunship helicopters shelled positions of Taliban militants in Aghal and Paraw areas of Matta tehsil and Malam Jabba in Charbagh tehsil on Friday evening.

Military spokesman said six militants were killed when security forces, backed by Cobra gunships targeted some locations with mortar and cannon shelling.

However, Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan rejected the ISPR claim, saying nobody from the Taliban side was killed in the attack. He added that a mosque and a school were hit in the shelling on Paraw area of Matta.

TWO MORE SCHOOLS BLOWN UP: The number of torched and destroyed schools reached 114 as two more girls’ schools were blown up in tehsil Kabal late on Thursday night.

The militants planted explosive at Government Girls High School Ali Grama and Government Girls High School Sar Senai which went off with a big bang destroying both the buildings completely.

The furniture and record of the school also damaged. The attacks on schools had deprived about 60 percent students particularly girls from their basic right of education.

Taliban spokesman Muslim Khan termed targeting of the schools as result of destroying houses of Taliban and innocent people. The explosions were so severe that these were heard far and wide.
