NAROWAL, Oct 7: Ten ‘tandoor’ owners were fined and two others booked for overcharging for roti on Tuesday.

A team visited various areas of the city to see if ‘tandoor’ owners were selling roti at official rates. The team slammed a Rs2,000 fine each on 10 ‘tandoor’ owners who were selling roti for Rs4 instead of Rs2 and registered cases against two ‘tandoor’ owners who were using substandard flour and overcharging for roti.

Narowal District Coordination Officer Waqas Ali Mahmood said presently 32 ‘tandoors’ were selling subsidised roti in the district. He said the district government had made arrangements to increase the number of such ‘tandoors’.—Correspondent
