LANDI KOTAL, Oct 7: A religious outfit, Lashkar-i-Islam, claimed to have captured eight suspected Taliban along with their commander here on Tuesday.

Sources said that Lashkar-i-Islam (LI) activists stopped a vehicle, which was coming from Orakzai Agency and arrested eight men traveling in it. On checking, they also recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition and explosive powder from the vehicle.

The sources said that the eight suspects had been shifted to an undisclosed location for questioning by LI men.

They were not handed over to the administration, they added.Meanwhile, LI spokesman Misri Khan told this correspondent that their organisation had extended help to the administration in the release of two kidnapped officials of Mehsud Scouts, Subedar Daulat and Subedar Wakeel.

“We helped secure the release of the two officials as our religious duty,” he added.

The two kidnapped officials had been set free on Sunday in exchange for the release of eight LI men detained by the political administration.
