Gilchrist to play against Australia

SYDNEY, Oct 6: Retired Australian legend Adam Gilchrist will return to the field to play in an ‘All-Stars’ Twenty20 match against his old team-mates, officials said on Monday.

The big-hitting Gilchrist will be part of the Australian Cricketers’

Association’s (ACA) All-Stars team to play against the national side in Brisbane on Nov 14, Cricket Australia said.

Organisers refused to comment on the make-up of the rest of the All-Stars team, saying only it would include “returning icon players”.

“Adam Gilchrist, will play as part of the ACA All-Stars, a team selected by their peers at the end of last season,” a Cricket Australia spokesman said. “They will be up against a full-strength Australian XI.”

It has been suggested that the recently retired fast bowler Glenn McGrath and ACA president Darren Lehmann will form part of Gilchrist’s team.—AFP
